“This is a special event for everyone involved,” said Barbara Calhoun, dean, College of Continuing and Professional Education. “Most of our students are full-time working adults who are balancing family, job and school responsibilities. We understand the sacrifices they’ve made and are privileged to honor them.”
Former radio broadcaster Rhubarb Jones will serve as the keynote speaker and share personal accounts on the importance of overcoming obstacles and never giving up. He’s most known for accomplishing the longest run as a morning radio personality in the Atlanta market, doing so at the 106.7 slot on the FM dial for 23 years (1985-2008). Jones was inducted into the Country Music Disc Jockey Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame in 2007. He is now the director of special events in the department of university development at KSU. Additionally, he is a faculty member of the department of mass communication for the university.
"I have seen firsthand how the continuing education programs at Kennesaw State University have been life-changing for individuals and their families,” Jones said. “I am very proud of the opportunities it has created for people to raise their personal goals and to eliminate barriers."
KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education is the leading alternative in higher education, offering more than 50 professional certificate courses.
