KSU’s Certificate Program Graduation Sees Record Turnout

KENNESAW, Ga. (June 24, 2014) – Kennesaw State University’s College of Continuing and Professional Education saw a record turnout for its recently held semiannual graduation ceremony. Nearly 500 people were in attendance to celebrate 134 graduates who successfully completed a certificate program at the college within the past year. It was the second-largest turnout in the history of the college.

“We’re thrilled by the overwhelming show of support for our graduates,” said Barbara Calhoun, dean, College of Continuing and Professional Education. “Our students have made a commitment to enrich their lives through continuing education. We’re honored to host events like this to allow all those who have supported their journey to share in the celebration.”

Georgia Radio Hall of Famer Rhubarb Jones served as the keynote speaker and shared inspirational stories on the importance of overcoming adversity. Jones discussed his firing in 2008 and how it forced him to reinvent himself after coming to the realization that he may never work in radio again. He is now the director of special events in the Department of University Development at KSU. Additionally, he is a faculty member of the Department of Mass Communication for the university.

On Thursday, July 31, the college will host a free Career Training Expo at KSU Center beginning at 6 p.m. The event will allow potential students the opportunity to learn about more than 50 professional certificate courses along with more than 300 online offerings. Diverse programs include Culinary, Paralegal, Medical Assisting, Project Management, Meeting & Event Management, Web Design, Health Coach, Social Media Marketing and Information Systems Security.
