Event attracts nearly 500 people looking for career advancement

Stephanie Riascos was the lucky winner of an iPad mini from KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education. This Woodstock resident attended KSU’s Career Training Expo on July 31 where she came to obtain more information about healthcare programs.

The iPad mini drawing was only one part of this biannual open-house event. Nearly 500 people were able to access instructors and graduates who provided insight into professional certificate programs such as Culinary Arts, Paralegal, Project Management, Social Media Marketing, Phlebotomy and Teaching English as a Second Language. KSU program managers were also available to answer questions and elaborate on the academic structure, requirements and expectations of the certificate courses.

Guests also took advantage of personal branding and interviewing tips from board-certified career coach John Long of Two Roads Resources, Inc. Financial aid advisers were on-site to inform attendees about payment plans, scholarships, VA Education Benefits and more.

Due to popular demand, 2015 will usher in three Career Training Expos. Save the dates: January 8, April 2 and July 30.
