Summer luau August 2

KENNESAW, Ga. (July 22, 2013) -- Aloha! Break out your grass skirt and your best hula moves on Aug. 2 at the End of Summer Luau! The Osher Lifelong Learning (OLLI) at the College of Continuing and Professional Education at Kennesaw State University is celebrating summer at this festive event, scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at KSU Center (3333 Busbee Drive in Kennesaw).

This party is for adults 50 and older. OLLI socials are held throughout the year just for this special group. Nearly 250 people come out to dance to a live band, socialize and meet new people.

The Society Express Band will return and provide the soundtrack to this summer’s social. Food will be served, and participants are encouraged to dress in their Hawaiian best. A prize will be awarded for the best costume!

“There’s no better way to celebrate summer than with a colorful, fun party,” Michelle Girage, director of programs, said. “This is one of our favorite events!”

Attendees are also encouraged to bring pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The pop tabs collected help families of children that are ill.

The cost is $10. Reservations are required, and walk-ins will not be accommodated. The doors will open at 5:45 p.m.

“This is an event you don’t want to miss,” Girage said. “Practice your hula dance, and I’ll have a lei waiting on you!”
